The art world in Maine and beyond reacted with sadness at the death today of painter Andrew Wyeth.
"He was quite a marvelous painter," said painter Dahlov Ipcar of Georgetown, a contemporary of Wyeth's. "He had that strange combination of realism and nostalgia."
Wyeth died in his sleep early Friday at age 91 in Chadds Ford, Pa.
